The late Shri B. S. Dagar

Shri B. S. Dagar spent his youth serving India in uniform. When he came home, he chose a new way to serve: the children of Bhopura.

He carried one simple belief: a child's dreams should never be limited by the size of the family's income. Every child deserved a good school, close to home, and teachers who would believe in them. In 1997, with that belief and very little else, he opened the doors of Jai Devi Vidya Mandir.

He ran the school the way he had lived his life: with discipline, honesty and quiet care. He was on time, in a clean uniform, with respect for every teacher and every child. He did not build the school to be grand. He built it so that no child in Bhopura would have to go without.

His work did not end with him. Today Director Laxmi Devi and Principal Ketki Singh Dagar carry it forward, one child at a time. Every morning, his words still shine on every child's badge: विद्या ही शक्ति है, knowledge is power.
